Animal Chiropractic
What is Animal Chiropractic?
It is a method of treatment that deals with restoring the important relationship between the spine and the nervous system in order to regain and maintain health. Since every function in the body, including muscle function, organ function and even hormones and circulation is controlled by the nervous system, any interference of this may cause abnormal symptoms or disease. Bones which are jammed up or out of normal position in relation to each other can cause pressure or irritation of nerves. The result is muscle spasm, swelling, pain, and reduced function of tissues and organs. This is called a subluxation. |

Above: This mini-Schnauzer presented with a sore back and neck, wasn’t eating and refused to climb up or down stairs. A few treatments later she is 100%!
Left: Checking the spine for subluxations. Having your pet checked every three months or so may help detect and prevent problems early, as well as maintain optimum health.
Below: Dr Easterling is using an Activator, which is a
mechanical adjusting instrument, to correct spinal subluxations in this Shephard cross, who suffers from arthritis of the lumbar spine.
Chiropractic care may help improve mobility, decrease pain and prolong the quality of life, even when the arthritis is fairly advanced. |

Other signs to watch for:
Constipation, incoordination, dragging feet or scuffing toes, partial paralysis, muscle wasting
Chiropractic therapy can help by getting to the cause of the problem and restores health by adjustments of the spine and extremities without using drugs or surgery. If indicated chiropractic can be effective and may even be cheaper not to mention the lack of harmful side effects that drugs may sometimes cause.
Chiropractic adjustments are not usually painful, although some animals may experience mild stiffness
or discomfort for about 24 hours after the initial adjustment or two. Ice packs to the affected area may relieve any treatment related soreness. Many animals however appear to improve immediately. Most animals respond quicker to chiropractic care than human patients.

Right: This elderly cat suffers from constipation due to illness. Adjustments to the lower lumbar spine can stimulate the nerves to the bowl and bladder, and may help some conditions related to these. |
